Meet the Team
Kirsty Mills
Level 4 person centred counsellor
Hi, I’m Kirsty, founder of East Yorkshire Equine Assisted Therapy C.I.C., launched in June 2024. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I’ve spent years working with them in all sorts of capacities—from helping remedial horses and starting young horses, to competing and giving riding lessons. Over time, I began to see just how deeply horses can connect with people and support them emotionally. That realisation sparked something in me—and led to the creation of East Yorkshire Equine Assisted Therapy.
I am a qualified Level 4 Person-Centred Counsellor with experience supporting individuals with complex and often multiple needs. I have worked with Blossom Self Harm and Suicide Prevention, providing compassionate, client-led support to individuals experiencing emotional distress, self-harm, and suicidal thoughts. I also have experience working with Together Women, a charity supporting women within the justice system, where I supported women facing trauma, adversity, and social exclusion. My practice is grounded in empathy, safety, and respect, with a strong focus on building trusting therapeutic relationships and supporting emotional regulation, resilience, and self-understanding.
